I’ve counted 103 days yet not even a drop of taho ever drizzled on to my mouth. I can only imagine the swirly feeling of tapioca pearls rolling down my throat, the overly sweet syrup that I occasionally ask the vendor to add more of. I miss the warm , sometimes hot to touch of the random mug I would grab in haste to catch up with the hurrying fellow as if he’s playing tag with his patrons. I can’t even recall a taho vendor frequented our alley during the lock down.
Wandering For A Living
It’s a dream to be able to earn a living by just day dreaming. I can still recall those news features on TV about working as a guest on a get away destination and getting paid just by writing up a review of the accommodation , talk about of a real dream job!
However, it’s inarguable that taho vendors are risking lives just being out there. They are literally wandering. The usual spots where sales used to flow in are out of the picture. Not all employees of that BPO company have gone back to the office as far as working from home allows. Every day, with no reliable mass transport, how could one ever go far walking with two jugs full of taho? I hear someone say: “They’re used to the long haul,” yet he may have not heard of the check points randomly posted to ensure no body gets farther without any kind of certification. Additionally, of the fatigue coming out of hunger, gasping of breath due to a face mask and the thought of having a jug still half full of taho at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
So Why In A Hurry?
I would have been unable to answer if this was asked 4 months ago but now I think that the reason we felt panicky upon hearing a taho vendor is because we’re afraid we might miss him. We miss him because we are reactive of his call and would only snap out of the moment by grabbing your coin purse, perhaps a chipped mug and trample over a pair of slippers (maybe a bath towel to cover up if you’re not wearing anything underneath your top). There’s no way this man is walking fast provided he’s carrying a serious weight over his shoulders and he’s in no stance to be missing of any sale that brings food to his family’s table. You won’t miss him if you’ll be more observant. How about a time check to determine what time of the day he passes by? Or an actual conversation if you are keen to buy daily so he’d take that turn to your alley? You may also help if you buy your soy milk from them, they’re authentic and guaranteed fresh.
